September 5, Comprehensive Grammar Diagnostic #1 Analysis
So I finally took the comprehensive grammar diagnostic #1 tonight. I don’t know if it was because I am sick or tired but I couldn’t tell the difference between some of the sentences. I had to triple read them. I haven't taken an English class in so long and somewhere between then and now I forgot how to write. I got a disappointing 72%. I was proficient in 3 categories, but failed in basic grammar. The fact that it is called “basic” grammar leads me to believe I should have known this since elementary school. When I was looking at the results I noticed I missed a lot of questions containing pronouns. I admit that sometimes I don’t know when to use her and she or I and me. This is something I would like to know how to properly use. I got a 16 out of 18 on the punctuation and mechanics. I didn’t find that too surprising because I can tell when something is missing, like an apostrophe. One thing I would like to learn more about is when to use hyphens. I didn’t miss any of those questions but I still don’t know the rule on how to use them. At the end of this class, I would like to take this test again so I can see if I improved.

Sometimes I think to myself "I SHOULD know this" when I take the tests, but I end up not doing as well as I thought. But, they also help to improve your writing, so it's not too bad.
